In my prior law firm experience, I regularly advised clients on marketing and advertising compliance. My practice including reviewing all marketing materials (tv, radio, social media, digital ads, sweepstakes) and also providing detailed analysis related to substantiation and UDAAP risks. I am the queen of writing disclosures (when necessary). I frequently spoke to industry audiences on marketing compliance and UDAAP issues. I also would do training sessions for marketing departments, draft policies and procedures and complete outside audits of marketing compliance. I love marketing compliance work. I enjoy the creative process and the types of people who make up the marketing departments. In my current role, I serve as a senior legal advisor on operational and regulatory matters, with primary responsibility for federal consumer finance compliance, including UDAAP, FCRA, and ECOA. I lead the development and implementation of company-wide compliance policies, procedures, and training programs, and I oversee the company’s expanding use of AI from a legal and risk-management perspective. I provide legal support on consumer litigation, customer and vendor contracts, and fair lending and licensing initiatives managed by outside counsel. I contribute to analysis of SEC reporting issues and related securities litigation and manage consumer complaint responses.
