About
My practice takes three forms: pre-litigation, advice and counsel, and workplace investigations. Pre-litigation is where most of my experience sits, and it still drives how I approach everything else. I handle charges filed with the EEOC and California Civil Rights Department, wage claims before the Labor Commissioner, and demand letters from plaintiff's counsel. That means writing the position statement, running down the facts and documents behind it, appearing at settlement conferences, and making the early call on whether a matter gets resolved or defended. When something does move into litigation, I manage the case and direct outside counsel. Advice and counsel is the real-time work. HR, operations, and executives come to me before they act, usually on terminations and discipline, leaves and accommodations, classification and pay practices, performance management, and restructurings. The value isn't the legal answer by itself; it's giving an operations leader something they can act on that day. Workplace investigations round it out. I conduct investigations into harassment, discrimination, and retaliation complaints, and oversee outside investigators when independence or capacity calls for it, then advise on findings and corrective action. All three feed the same loop. What shows up in a charge or an investigation tells me what to fix in the handbook, the manager playbook, or the training, which is how the volume comes down over time.
