I am outside general counsel for almost all of my clients, though their specific needs vary widely. Some are early stage startups, some are smaller public companies, most are somewhere in between. My bread and butter is everyday transactional work, but I do love an M&A deal from time to time. I have been a solo practitioner for 10 years, and recently took on a partner (and we may be on a growth spurt this year). I also moonlight helping my clients with their legal operations ("legal ops"), including helping them design and implement legal department workflows, playbooks, and more recently, AI-enabled processes.
