I run Richard Andrews Advisory, a boutique practice focused on serving as fractional and embedded general counsel to health tech and AI companies. My practice is designed to provide clients with the kind of practical, business-oriented legal support they would expect from an experienced in-house lawyer. I advise founders and leadership teams across commercial contracting, healthcare regulatory and compliance matters, corporate governance, product counseling, privacy and data issues, strategic transactions, and the day-to-day legal questions that arise as companies grow. Before launching my practice, I spent approximately five years in-house at Transcarent, most recently as Vice President and Associate General Counsel, where my work included strategic transactions, commercial matters, corporate governance, financing, and supporting the company through significant growth and acquisitions. I began my career in M&A/private equity/capital markets at Latham & Watkins before finding my way to emerging companies and venture capital work at Wilson Sonsini, and later, my secondment and transition into Transcarent as its founding legal hire. Today, I work primarily with emerging and growth-stage companies, often operating as an extension of their leadership teams rather than as traditional outside counsel. I’m particularly interested in building a modern, relationship-driven model for outside general counsel services that combines strong legal judgment with a deep understanding of the client’s business.
