Erin is the founder of Erin Skinner Law, a fractional general counsel practice concentrating in health law and healthcare technology. Before starting her own practice, Erin spent six years at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), working across program integrity, payment policy, Marketplace appeals adjudication as a federal hearing officer, and Medicare Parts C and D compliance, giving her direct exposure to the revenue cycle, prior authorization, and administrative workflows that sit at the center of ChartR's environments. She went on to serve as in-house general counsel for healthcare technology companies, including two national healthcare app platforms and a dental staffing company. She’s worked closely with clinical and operational data.
Erin's current practice advises healthcare and health tech companies on HIPAA applicability and de-identification standards, business associate agreements, and the regulatory line between decision-support tools and regulated medical devices (she recently advised a client through an Apple App Store submission to confirm their product did not qualify as a regulated device). Her background spans federal healthcare regulation and hands-on drafting for platforms handling PHI, giving her a practical grounding in the compliance questions that come up across healthcare technology and AI-adjacent work.
